Amoxycillin is a broad spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin which is bactericidal against a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including E.coli, Pasteurella spp and Erysipelothrix spp.
Vetremox should be administered via the drinking water at a dose rate of 20mg/kg bodyweight. It is recommended that a representative sample of birds is weighed to assist in calculating the total dose to be administered to the group.
The dose should be administered once daily as a single "pulse" dose and repeated daily for 3 to 5 days, depending on clinical response.
Method of administration
WHILST HANDLING THE PRODUCT WEAR WATER-PROOF GLOVES AT ALL TIMES - See Operator Safety. Vetremox should be added to drinking water at the rate of 0.2g (200mg) per litre of water.
One litre of drinking water per day is normally sufficient for 20 pigeons or approximately 10 kg bodyweight.
A small scoop is provided in the pack. One level scoopful contains 0.2g (200mg) and is sufficient to medicate one litre of water.
Do not supply unmedicated water and medicated water at the same time. However if during the course of the day all the medicated water has been consumed, resume the supply of unmedicated water until the daily dose is supplied the following day. Any medicated water not consumed within 24 hours should be discarded and replaced with newly made up solution.
