For use in Rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, chinchillas, mice, other small rodents. Not cats, not ferrets.
For the prevention and control of infestations caused by: flies (adult and immature stages), fleas, ticks and lice. Xenex Ultra should be used as part of an insect control programme. Ensure that pets are kept in clean, dry housing which is free of faeces and urine. Fly strike is caused by flies laying their eggs in the wet or sore areas which can develop around the anus of pets. These sores often develop as a result of diarrhoea caused by poor diet and hygiene. Ensure that the animal is fed the correct diet, regularly check it for faeces soiling and bathe if necessary.
Do not use on Cats. This product is toxic to and may kill cats.
A small number of animals may experience an irritation on the skin where the solution has been applied. In most cases dermal irritation is limited to a mild and occasionally reddened area at the site of application. Should this occur bathe immediately with a mild non-insecticidal shampoo and the reaction normally resolves without further consequence. Do not reapply Xenex Ultra Spot On to animals which react in this way. More rarely severe dermal lesions can occur which include redness, weeping open sores and varying degrees of local fur loss. Should this occur veterinary advice should be sought. These lesions usually respond well to appropriate symptomatic treatment, which may include topical corticosteroids +/- antibacterials.
Very rarely small rodents may demonstrate signs of Central Nervous System disturbance such as ataxia and tremors. If this occurs veterinary advice should be sought immediately and diazepam or pentobarbitone sodium may be administered to control convulsions.
Wash hands after use. Wash off any splashes immediately. Avoid contact with eyes. If splashed in the eye, wash with plenty of water.
Users carrying out multiple applications should wear protective gloves made of neoprene or nitrile of a minimum thickness of 0.3mm.
Do not handle the area of application for 3-6 hours after treatment.
Treated animals should not be allowed to sleep with people particularly children.
This product is poisonous to cats. Ensure that cats do not groom the site of application on a treated animal, if this occurs separate the animals and consult a vet.
In normal circumstances application every 2 weeks is sufficient; however, some individual animals are particularly prone to fly strike and in these cases weekly application is advisable.
It is very important to weigh animals accurately as overdosing can be harmful
Remove a tube from the packaging and snip off the end of the nozzle with a pair of scissors. Try not to get the solution on the fingers whilst handling the product. Part the fur of your pet either between the shoulder blades at the back of the neck, to either side of the spine or (specifically for fly strike control), on the back and the rump at the base of the tail (avoiding the anus and genitals). Squeeze the appropriate number of drops onto the exposed skin. Avoid applying the solution in a single site. Whenever possible divide the appropriate dosage and apply to several different places on the skin.
