Danilon Equidos Gold For Horses (Prescription Required)
Danilon Equidos Gold has the active ingredient Suxibuzone which is rapidly converted into phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone. It is designed especially for the treatment of horses and comes in sachets of yellow, odourless granules to add to the horse’s food. Your vet must prescribe Danilon.
What Is Danilon for Horses Used For?
Danilon is used to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease, musculoskeletal injuries and conditions such as bursitis and laminitis.
How to Administer Danilon for Horses
The Active substance remains the same (1.5g suxibuzone) but the new product has a stronger concentration. This new product, Danilon Equidos Gold 1.5g Granules for Horse and ponies now comes in 3g sachets compared to 10g sachets.
Please read the information below regarding these changes as this means the dosage has also changed.
New dosing as follows (subject to veterinary advice): For Oral administration
Horses
For a 480kg bodyweight horse, the contents of 2 sachets should be administered twice daily for 2 days, followed by 1 sachet twice daily for 3 days. Thereafter 1, sachet daily or on alternate days, or the minimum dose frequency necessary for a satisfactory clinical response.
Ponies – should receive only half the dose rate recommended for horses
For a 240kg bodyweight pony, the contents of 1 sachet should be administered daily for 2 days followed by 1 sachet on alternate days. Thereafter, reduce to the minimum dose frequency necessary for a satisfactory clinical response.
Part sachets should not be used.
