Metacam® oral suspension for dogs is a non-steroidal anti-infammatory drug (NSAID) and is used to reduce pain and inflammation in dogs. It is also often prescribed for use after an operation or injury.
Metacam® oral suspension for dogs can be used for both chronic (long-term) musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, and acute (sudden and short-lived) musculoskeletal disorders, such as an injury.

Metacam® contains meloxicam, which belongs to a class of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It acts by blocking an enzyme called cyclooxygenase which is involved in the production of prostaglandins. As prostaglandins are substances that trigger inflammation, pain and fever, meloxicam is effective in reducing these symptoms.

In dogs, Metacam is used to reduce post-operative pain and inflammation following orthopaedic (e.g. fracture operation) and soft tissue surgery. Moreover, metacam for dogs is used for the alleviation of inflammation and pain in both acute and chronic musculo-skeletal disorders in dogs.

The suspension should be administered orally, either mixed with food or directly into the mouth using either the drop dispenser of the bottle (for very small dog breeds) or the measuring syringe provided in the box.

Metacam® oral suspension for dogs is a 1.5 mg/ml suspension and is available in 4 bottle sizes:
• 10 ml
• 32 ml
• 100 ml
• 180 ml

Full instructions on the use of Metacam® for Dogs are included in every pack, though do also follow your vets recommendations.

Metacam is a prescription item and will be sent once a valid prescription is received.
